Founded by Michelangelo Fasoli and Maurizio Berti in 2012, Vescovo Moro Group srl prides itself on producing extraordinary quality wines. Carefully selected from cool-climate locations throughout the Northern parts of the Veneto Region countryside, these wines are the expression of character, great balance, and elegance. By hand-harvesting grapes from a few selected family-owned vineyards, these wines exhibit exceptional value. Vescovo Moro Group's business model allows the management team to focus on quality, along with reducing the cost of the wine-making process, a significant saving for their global customer base and the final consumer.
With recent changes in the global market, with frequent shifts along the supply/demand chain, the Vescovo Moro Group has developed its own business model to optimize production cost, hence archiving a competitive advantage.
We entrust Fasoli Family vineyards to produce a unique limited numbered series of Amarone. Most of our wine production is vinified at our partner facility, International Wine Group Srl, located in San Floriano VR amid the Valpolicella Classica area. The exception is wines needing to be vinified in their respective regions as required by Italian law. Vescovo Moro Group insists on using indigenous grape varieties like Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara.
What makes us special: The knowledge of our tradition, the trust in the quality of our autochthonous grape varieties, and our experience: these are the values that we try to reconcile with progress and innovation. This is how we conceive our winemaking process, by using modern stainless-steel vats, wooden barrels of various dimensions, barriques for aging, delicate processing methods, and cutting-edge technology.
Our highly experienced oenologist and agronomist guide the wine-making process from the vine to the bottle, periodically consulting with Vescovo Moro’s managers for optimal results. Our group has worked with top Italian enologists such as the late Roberto Ferrarini, Mattia Vezzola, Fabio Zenato, Carlo Ferrini, and winemaker Fabrizio Fichera. With this team of leading wine experts, the Vescovo Moro Group controls the entire oenological process achieving impeccable quality meeting our exact requirements and taste while maintaining traditional methods and secrets handed down by our predecessors.
The wine production process of both brands, Vescovo Moro and Corte del Vescovo, is entrusted to the experienced hands of Fabrizio Fichera, our precious partner, and owner of International Wine Group. Founder and owner, Fabrizio Fichera boasts a long-standing experience gained over years of dedicated work that has led him to gather in-depth insight into the Italian and foreign wine markets. Thanks to his profound knowledge of the terroirs and vignerons with which he has established, and consolidated strong, authentic relations based on common agricultural roots. To make the most of this great expertise, in 2015, he founded the International Wine Group, a modern, innovative enterprise that intends to continuously meet the needs of a market undergoing continuous evolution and expansion.
Today the Vescovo Moro Group, with two brands, Vescovo Moro and Corte del Vescovo produces not only Valpolicella wines, such as Amarone della Valpolicella DOC, Riposso Superiore DOC, Valpolicella DOC, but also Prosecco DOC, Soave DOC, Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC, Moscato Provincia di Pavia IGT, and many more quality wines. (Please view our wine portfolio and technical sheets).
All wines have quality certifications guaranteed by rigid Italian Government regulations which are indicated with DOCG, DOC, and IGT denominations.
The Vescovo Moro Group is located in Sant'Ambrogio, right in the heart of the Valpolicella wine region. This is one of the most prestigious Italian winemaking areas in Italy situated northwest of the romantic city of Verona. These remarkable valleys, with a particularly mild climate and rolling hills covered with vineyards, have produced wine since the advent of the Roman Empire. The combination of fresh mountain air and mild breezes from Lake Garda create a wonderful natural microclimate, with ideal conditions for vine cultivation, where expert caring hands convert into fine wine.
The white wines are enjoyable, fresh, round, very drinkable where simplicity is a quality. For red wines, we seek harmony, elegance, well-balanced tannins with good persistence, and most importantly enjoyable to drink glass after glass.
The Vescovo Moro Collection features pleasantness, elegance, and well-balanced wines. Each vintage year, our goal is to make wines that convey our philosophy of winemaking, which is a source of pleasure with an aesthetic appeal, with nice aromas and harmonious textures. Not too complex, rounded with intricate flavors and a pleasant long finish, keeping in mind the typical wine style our customers have come to expect from us. Vintage year after vintage year, we will continue to meet these expectations. Our production facility in San Floriano VR is on track to produce 200,000 bottles in 2022, 400,000 in 2023, and in 2029 we project to bottle 1,000,000 annually.
The company is named after the patron saint of the City of Verona, San Zeno - Vescovo Moro. As a legend among the inhabitants of Verona, Vescovo Moro (affectionately called the Brown Bishop) was known for his courage to tackle challenging situations with wisdom. The Vescovo Moro Group continues to embrace this legacy.
The Corte del Vescovo label takes inspiration from the bishop's crook and the "rosone", the circular window positioned on the façade of San Zeno Cathedral in Verona (as shown below).
